I'm Simon Haglund, a Swedish sound designer working at the intersection of online slot audio and AAA trailer sound design.Over the past two years I've shipped 20 slot titles with Just For The Win — including the Dark Waters series, Legendary Lawmen, and Mega Eagle — at a steady cadence of one game every four weeks. The work came to me, not the other way around: JFTW's in-house composer reached out after hearing my trailer reels, and the relationship has been my main focus ever since.
Before slots, and still ongoing, I've spent 5+ years designing sound for AAA film and game trailers. My work has featured in productions from Disney, Marvel, Warner Bros., Ubisoft, and Sony — most recently in Sony's GOAT and 20th Century Studio's Predator: Badlands. That side of the work taught me something I bring directly into every slot I score: impact is everything. The big moments — the wins, the bonus triggers, the transitions — have to actually hit. Most slot audio doesn't, because it's built around loops instead of moments. I build the moments first, then loop around them.
I work from a studio I converted from a stable's tack room — fully acoustically treated, with high-end microphones that giving me the raw material for sound design that goes well beyond ordinary stock library work. I record and design SFX from the ground up, supplemented with selections from Boom Library when the brief calls for it. Music is built in a hybrid setup combining Kontakt instruments with live tracking.
A recording partner in Malmö doubles my capacity when projects run in parallel. My background spans from jazz saxophone to EDM production — composition on one side, production and sound design on the other.
